MALE FREEMASONRY
The Women’s Grand Lodge
of Switzerland (WGLS) is an exclusively female obedience.
This means that only
women are initiated in the Lodges of the WGLS and that each Lodge is run by
women Freemasons.
Lodges can, however,
welcome brothers to participate in their work if they wish.
Men interested in the
Masonic approach and who wish to work in an exclusively male universe can apply
to the Grand Lodge Alpina of Switzerland (GLAS) or the Grand Orient of
Switzerland (GOS).
Founded in 1844, the GLAS
has nearly 3500 members in more than 80 Lodges. Our brothers work in 4
languages (French, German, Italian, English) and are present throughout
Switzerland.
The GLAS and the WGLS
maintain a regular and harmonious dialogue between the governing bodies of the
two obediences. Convinced that these exchanges can only be beneficial to
Freemasonry and to the common objectives of GLAS and the WGLS, the latter
encourages contacts between Lodges of the two obediences around discussions and
non-ritual work.
